We build strong kids
strong families strong communities

Like everyone, we are continuously navigating the settings and requirements under the Covid-19 Protection Framework.

This has implications right across the country and the YMCA is no different – every facet of our organisation is impacted by these changes. We genuinely want what is best for our members, our customers, our service users and everyone we work with.

The New Zealand Government’s Covid-19 Protection Framework comes in on Friday 3 December, 2021.

Southland will be at the orange alert level setting.

Below is an outline of how the YMCA gym and OSCAR service will operate.

We thank you for your support and patience at this time.

Information for all gym users

General summary:
Anyone using the YMCA gym must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Masks are required for entry and exit (these can be taken off when exercising).

Towels are compulsory for anyone using the gym, please ensure you spray and wipe down any equipment used.

Members

Members will need to show their Vaccine Pass at reception on their next entry to the gym.

Reception staff will verify it and note the expiry date.

Members will then be able to access the gym as normal until that expiry date without requiring your vaccine pass on each visit.

Concession card holders

Concession card holders will need to show their Vaccine Pass at reception.

Reception staff will verify it and amend the concession card so that holders can access the gym as usual without requiring the vaccine pass on each visit.

Casual users

Casual users will need to show their Vaccine Pass on every visit.

If you are not vaccinated please email Enable JavaScript to view protected content. with your contact details and any questions or concerns and we will get back to you. This is so that we can have your membership details on hand and can give you accurate information when we get back to you.

OSCAR (Y-Junior) – before and after school care and holiday programmes

General summary:
Because we have a gym within our facility, any parent or caregiver coming into the YMCA for pick ups or drop offs must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and show their My Vaccine Pass.

Breakfast Club

If the parent/caregiver dropping the child off is vaccinated, there is no change to drop-offs, although you will need to show My Vaccine Pass on arrival.

If the parent/caregiver dropping the child off is unvaccinated, there will be a contactless option offered to you, but you will need to make contact with our OSCAR team leader, Melissa, to arrange this.

After school care and holiday programmes

Drop-offs and picks-ups for after school care and holiday programmes will all be through the stadium, which is located at the rear of the building and is accessible through the Pak’nSave car park.

Regardless of the vaccination status of the parent/caregiver, all drop offs and pick ups will be contactless.

Please note this is an interim measure through to the end of the year and for the December and January holiday programmes. We will reassess next year.
