NZ Certificate in Foundation Skills Level 1

We know not everyone learns the same.

We know everyone brings their own strengths.

With education at the Y Southland, we provide individualised learning support in a group environment, where your learning needs are catered to and where you are supported to be your very best self.

From January 2024 the Y Southland is offering the New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills Level 1 and NCEA Level 1.

This is a free programme, based at the Y (77 Tay St, Invercargill) and is available to learners aged between 16 and 24 years. It will start on 5th February, 2024.

We champion an environment where you’re not just accepted, but understood; where your unique way of thinking is not just supported, but empowered. Our learning programmes are far from traditional – they’re designed with your brilliance in mind. Working alongside YMCA New Zealand, the Y has received the Dyslexia-Friendly Quality Mark for 2023-2026, which recognises that our learning centres are safe places for neurodivergent learners and provide an inclusive environment.

So, if traditional classrooms have let you down, step into a space where you can soar. It’s education, but not as you know it – it’s where you can truly thrive!

Further benefits of education at the Y include the availability of pastoral support from our youth workers – if and when needed – and a free Y gym membership while you are enrolled.
